Our pedal-assist electric bicycle delivers smooth and instantaneous power so you can float up hills, dial up your speed, and see Boston with the greatest of ease. These bikes have no throttle — all you have to do is pedal!
We have a full-size run of electric bikes, including a limited number of step-thru electric bicycles to rent or take on tour! We carry Specialized and Scott pedal-assist bicycles.
You must be 16+ and at least 5ft tall (152cm) to rent an electric bicycle. All rentals include helmets and locks. Flat kits and lights are also available upon request.
Rentals may be picked up at any time during operating hours on the booked date. Rentals may not be returned when the shop is closed.
We offer 2hr E-bike rentals for walk-ups only. Please do not call ahead for 2hr rentals. If you would like to reserve an E-bike in advance, you must book for a full day or multi-day.
We require at least 48-hour notice for deliveries. Please call us at 617-670-0637 to discuss availability prior to booking.
All rental bookings are NON-REFUNDABLE; although you may change your rental date for a $20 rebooking fee per rider. If you need to cancel, you will receive credit which is good for use towards rentals and tours.
Please call us at 617-670-0637 for more information.
Class 1 E-bikes have a top speed of 20 miles per hour, and the electric motor works only when the rider is pedaling. Some bikes have a throttle on the handlebars that offers an extra power boost, but the throttle works only if you’re also pedaling. You don’t have to be pedaling very hard, though. We only offer these bikes for both our tours and rentals (with no throttle)!
Class 2 E-bikes also have a max speed of 20 miles per hour, but these bikes do have a throttle that doesn’t require pedaling. A pedal assist option is also available as a second alternative. Class 2 E-bikes as well as Class 1 E-bikes are able to be ridden on public bike paths like rail trails.
Class 3 E-bikes max out at 28 mph and are required to have a speedometer. Depending on your location they may or may not be required to have a throttle. In most states you can ride these bikes on bike lanes only on the shoulder of a road but not on bike paths. Biking through a park is not allowed.
Car Racks – Please note, our car rack rentals and other standard trunk racks will not be able to transport electric bicycles. These electric bicycles are simply too heavy and can only be transported via hitch style racks.
Please treat our bicycles as if they were your own. You are liable for any and all damage, loss, or theft of rented items. Upon return, all of our bicycles receive a thorough inspection. Customers will be charged for damage found during this inspection. There will be a cleaning fee of $50 if bicycle is not returned in a reasonably clean condition at the discretion of Urban Adventours. The rental period starts upon pickup and ends upon return of equipment. We do not store any rental items for customers. Rental items may be picked up and dropped off only during our opening hours. Additional fee of $100 will incur if rental items are returned during our closed hours.
