2018 Sponsored Charity Rides and Events
This year as in years past, Urban AdvenTours is partnering with a number of charity rides and events throughout the summer. Each event is built for different levels of bike, and some have multiple options, but they all have a common goal in mind: to raise money and awareness for their cause.
Below is a list of the events we’re partnering with / sponsoring this summer, as well as any discounts we’re able to offer you for bike rentals for each event. We hope you’ll get out and ride!
2018 RIDE to End Alzheimer’s
On Saturday, June 9th the Ride to End Alzheimer’s will begin at 6:30 am in Rye, New Hampshire. There are the traditional 30, 62, and 100 mile rides. Additionally, there is a 1 mile Family Ride. Alzheimer’s affects millions of Americans and their families every year, and the Noonan family partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association to begin the Ride to raise funds to advance research for Alzheimer’s and provide care for those affected while decreasing the risk of dementia. American Cancer Society’s Bicycles Battling Cancer
On Sunday, June 10th the American Cancer Society’s Bicycles Battling Cancer event will begin at 7:30 AM at the Hillside School in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Riders who participate are asked to raise money in order to support the fight against cancer. They can ride 30, 50, 70, or 100 mile routes. The American Cancer Society is saving about 400 lives per day, and this number can be increased through funds raised by this event. Tri-State Trek
The Tri-State Trek will commence on Friday June 22nd at 6am at Boston College and will be followed by a 270 mile ride all the way to Greenwich, Connecticut, ending at 8 pm on Sunday, June 24th. The Tri-State Trek raises money for research for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). We’re proud to offer Tri-State Trek participants delivery to starting line and pickup after the ride (in Greenwich CT only) for $25.
Bike MS: Cape Cod Getaway
Starting at 7:30 am on Saturday June 30th, more than 2,000 cyclists will begin Bike MS: Cape Cod Getaway. Bike MS is 150 mile trip that begins in Quincy, rides through Cape Cod, and ends in Provincetown Sunday, July 1st at 2:30 pm. Multiple Sclerosis is an unpredictable, typically chronic but progressive disease of the central nervous system. MS only has “disease modifying” medicines and a cure has yet to be found. Funds will be used to research causes and cures for MS. Like many of our other rides, we offer 15% off rentals for this ride, and can provide delivery to the starting line.
Reid’s Ride
Reid’s Ride is held each year on the third Sunday in July in Glouchester, MA. This year, it’ll be held on Sunday, July 15th 2018. Cyclists begin gathering for check-in around 6:45 AM in the parking lot at Lynnfield High School and begin departing between 7:15 and 7:30 AM on bicycle ride that travels along a scenic and varied route of town and country and seaside roads to Gloucester’s Stage Fort Park for food, music, fun and festivities. The 28-mile open-road route is supported by technical and emergency chase teams, water stations, and a rest stop.
Pan-Mass Challenge
The Pan-Mass Challenge brings together thousands of cyclists, volunteers, donors and corporate sponsors to raise money so that Dana-Farber’s doctors and researchers so that they have the necessary resources and tools to discover cures for all types of cancer. The ride runs from Saturday, August 4th 2018 – Sunday, August 5th 2018. They offer multiple routes and ride lengths to suit the needs and interests of almost any kind of rider, and put on one of the largest charity rides in the state. We’re happy to offer 15% off rentals for Pan-Mass Challenge riders.
Cycle MA: State Bike Tour
Billed as “The Friendliest Ride in the East,” the Cycle MA State Bike Tour takes place between Saturday, August 4th 2018 – Friday, August 10th 2018. They explore different parts of the state every year, and sometimes even venture into neighboring states! Special this year, they’re adding a new rider reception, so you can get to know some of the friendly volunteers, a few old timers and others who are new to Cycle Massachusetts. For this ride we offer 15% off rentals, and though we can’t offer delivery to this event, Bruce (bruce@cyclema.com) is usually able to help with bike-delivery arrangements.
Bike to the Beach
An unofficial end to the season, Bike to the Beach takes place on Saturday, September 1st, and runs from Boston down to Newport, RI. Bike to the Beach is a community of people who combine biking, purpose, and fun to inspire individuals to overcome obstacles through personal challenge and to inspire the larger community to raise funds and awareness for Autism, the most prevalent developmental disability in the world. We offer 15% off rentals for the Bike to the Beach ride.
